‘Stanley Button is bright as a button. As bright as bright can be. Stanley Button loves stories. One day, says Stanley, he will write a real book. One day.’
Stanley Button is the story of a boy spending Saturday mornings with his elderly Grandpa. Grandpa can’t communicate as he did once upon a time but 7 year old Stanley doesn’t need words to understand. Holding Grandpa’s hand he can go anywhere. But when Grandpa gets tired it’s up to Stanley to seize the day and tell Grandpa’s story.
‘Sometimes, thinks Stanley, one day must be today’
We have kicked off research and development of Stanley Button at the fabulous Room 700 at Leeds Central Library. We have been working with children, families and older people to explore storytelling across the generations.
